S&P 500 Index

The S&P 500 index is a globally followed US equity index made up of 500 companies covering approximately 80% of available US market capitalisation, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices, which compiles the index. The index was launched in 1957 and was the first market-cap weighted US stock index.
