Carried Interest
Carried interest refers to the share of profits generated by hedge funds and private equity firms. Carried interest is paid as performance compensation to general partners of a fund after limited partners have been paid out and subject to performance hitting pre-agreed targets. The classic 2-and-20 compensation model refers to a 2% management fee and 20% paid in carried interest.
