This pathway explores the critical role of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) in attracting and retaining talent and driving economic benefits. It defines diversity as the range of human differences and inclusion as the environment where these differences can thrive. The series highlights ongoing inequalities in the financial services industry, particularly around gender and race, and outlines efforts by regulators like the FCA, PRA, and Bank of England to promote meaningful change. Nisrin shares her experience as a woman in banking and her organisation’s D&I strategy, built on four pillars: equitable systems, balance, respect, and advocacy. Actions include signing the Women in Finance Charter, forming D&I committees, collecting data on protected characteristics, launching employee networks, and running talent programs and training.

In this pathway

Identify the importance of Diversity and Inclusion for talent, innovation, and economic benefits

Identify the current state and challenges of Diversity and Inclusion in the financial services industry
